Actress Cat Lee (a.k.a. Lee Tze Hei) has emerged as a rising star in the Hong Kong film industry, notably for her role in the movie “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In.” The film boasts a stellar cast including Raymond Lam, Louis Koo, Sammo Hung, Richie Jen, and Aaron Kwok, capturing global attention in recent months with soaring box office figures. Lee portrays a drug-addicted sex worker in the film, earning praise alongside her co-star, Hedy Wong, who plays her daughter, Fishball Girl.

Lee’s passion for acting dates back to her school days when she was actively involved in the drama club, inspired by the anime “Glass Mask.” Under the mentorship of acclaimed Hong Kong film writer Loong Man-Hong, she honed her skills and later received guidance from veteran drama instructor Jeffrey Ho Wai Lung. She landed a significant role as the lead in the stage play “Under the Banyan Tree”.  In 2019, Cat Lee also participated in the Viu TV drama series “Retire to Queen,” co-starring with Hong Kong superstar Keung To.

Among numerous contenders, Lee secured her role in “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” through rigorous auditions. Directed by recent Hong Kong Film Award winner Soi Cheang, the film features intense fight scenes where Lee performed her stunts. She expressed gratitude for the collaboration with seasoned stage actor Tommy Chu, who played her primary adversary, noting his adeptness in enhancing their scenes together.

The production’s meticulous makeup process was time-consuming, with Lee cherishing the guidance received from their late image consultant. The film utilized several key locations such as Sai Kung Shing Fung Studio, Shaw Brothers Studio, and Tat Tak School in Yuen Long, transformed by the art department into temples, studio sets, and tea houses integral to the story.

Lee encourages audiences to pay particular attention to the martial arts sequences, expertly choreographed with the guidance of a Japanese martial arts instructor. She highlighted a distinctive martial art showcased in the film known as “Qi Rigid Technique,” allowing characters to withstand blades and bullets.

While “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” has already premiered in regions outside Asia like the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, North American audiences will have to wait until August this year for its release.
